The Shannon and Erne offer excellent sheltered waters for skiers and wakeboarders.
Whatever the wind direction, there is always a lee shore somewhere with calm water and generally no speed restrictions. Our larger boats will easily tow a speedboat or skiboat (ask for details) and we have good slipways at all of our marinas. So as you cruise along the river or into one of the larger lakes, tie up at a suitable jetty (many are already used by skiers) and start skiing - what could be better? And if one person gets tired or cold, then they can return to the cruiser for a hot shower and a drink. Jetties worth trying are Carrickreagh and Governers Quay on Lower Lough Erne or Naan Island on Upper Lough Erne. And there is a super stretch upstream of Portumna on the River Shannon which is close to our marina at Banagher.
